Orca Maritime provides ROV support during the cleanup of the Refugio Oil Spill
Orca Maritime responded to calls for support at the Refugio Oil Spill on the Gaviota Coast in Santa Barbara, CA. Using the vLBV300 ROV to inspect low lying areas of the seafloor for submerged oil. Contracted by Plains All American Pipeline, a pair of operators conducted the day-long survey with RPI, a science technology firm that provides environmental assessments of spill emergencies.
Orca performs week long demonstration for SCORE
Orca Maritime performed a week long demonstration for SCORE at Pyramid Cove, San Clemente Island. Using two AUVs and an ROV, Orca demonstrated their ability to locate targets using sonar and then identify them with the ROV while on site. Sonar, bathymetric and magnetometer data was collected, processed and inserted into a GIS database with HD video from the ROV.
Orca tests Hydronalix USV in San Diego
Orca Maritime gains contract under Hydronalix to test and assist in the training and implementation of their USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle) platforms. Using a design based off of the E.M.I.L.Y, the USV can be fitted for multiple sensors and pay loads for survey and ISR missions.
Technology Demonstration for GICHD
Orca Maritime completes a technology demonstration for the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD). Utilizing towed sensors, AUVs, ROVs and diver operated sensors, Orca's operators assisted manufacturers in deploying their equipment in a test field with targets designed to simulate explosive remnants of war (ERW). Bathymetric, magnetometer, side scan and multi-beam sonar data was collected.
Orca finds body of missing student in Lake Murray
Working alongside San Diego County Fire and Rescue, Police and US Coast Guard, Orca Maritime helped in the search for a missing San Diego State student. Using an AUV, Orca was able to quickly locate the body of the student, providing the location to the dive and ROV team for recovery.
Orca wins consulting contract to support US Navy UUV operations
Orca Maritime has won a 3-year Seaport-e contract with SPAWAR Systems Center, Pacific (SSC PAC), to provide at-sea support at all levels, from Task Force Commander staffs to unit-level operators. Specific tasks on this contract include concept of operations development for unmanned systems, at-sea test and evaluation planning, execution and analysis, and fleet transition/exercise support.
